Mumbai: A dolphin was found dead by Juhu Mumbai beach on Friday morning.
Some locals saw dead dolphins in Juhu Chowpatty and reported it to the local civil authority, which in turn told the forestry department, said an official of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
“The Ministry of Forestry then disposes the carcass,” the official said, adding that forest authorities might have the right information about the dolphins species.
Speaking with PTI, the local corporator Renu Hansraj said the dolphins found on Friday morning were smaller than the usual size.
“This special dolphin is smaller than the crisis of dolphins found on the coast of the city in the past,” Corporator said.
Earlier this year, several dead dolphins had washed land in separate places along the west coast of the city.
Even though dolphins looked like fish, they were classified as marine mammals.
