New Delhi: A 56-year-old woman died and her friend was seriously injured after they were hit by a car in Nangloi Outer Delhi while taking the night streets, police said on Thursday.
Geeta, the wife of the sub-inspector posted with Delhi traffic police, died during treatment, while her 46-year-old friend, Shashi Rohilla, was hospitalized and was declared out of danger, they said.
The police said the car hitting them was confiscated, and the 22-year-old driver, Deepak from Nangloi, was arrested.
They said he learned to drive with his brother’s car when the accident occurred.
According to the police, the accident took place on Wednesday night.
The two women, the two residents of Nangloi, had a night walk around 6pm near the Rail Neer factory in the area.
