Nagpur: The arrangement allowing non-essential stores to restart operations has just left the dealers in uncertainty.
The notification issued by Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) states all departmental stores (standalone rather than inside shopping centers and malls) will be permitted to run between 7am and 2pm.
A part of dealers states this includes stores in market areas too.
Their perception is every store is a single building rather than a part of any shopping center or mall.
But a senior NMC official contacted by TOI reported a standalone store strictly implies a shop institution that’s situated in isolation.
This is sometimes a lane or another area where there are not any other stores of non-essential things within an row.
Ashwin Mehadia, president of Nag Vidarbha Chamber of Commerce (NVCC), stated based on his own interpretation of this arrangement, any store on the market place that’s not a part of any purchasing mall or complex could be standalone.
On the other hand, the NMC official TOI spoke to cited cases of regions such as Sadar, Sitabuldi or even Dharampeth where these stores have a row, stating these cannot be treated as standalone.
Dipen Agrawal, president of Chamber of Association of Maharashtra Industry and Trade (CAMIT), additionally insisted that stores in market place are standalone.
BC Bhartia, president of Confederation of All India Traders (VAIT), stated the purchase clearly outperform stores in market areas.
Standalone means those stores in smallish lanes or at residential places where no other comparable institution is not there.
Bhartia said the purchase unduly favours e-commerce businesses by enabling deliveries of non-essentials until 11pm.
“Even brick and mortar stores ought to be permitted home delivery of things,” that he said.
Traders stated the authorities should have produce transparent standard operating procedures (SOPs) for conducting the stores.
In the lack of some other SOPs, traders have resolved to get their own criteria.
Though, they’ll make sure that both the employees becomes vaccinated.
There’ll not be any entrance without mask.
Mehadia stated the authorities must produce standards on limitation on entrance of individuals on the grounds of size of stores.
