Surat: Deputy Dean of General Hessence of Municipal and Medical College who was suspended, also known as Sion Hospital in Mumbai, and others were arrested by Police Bharuch on Monday for deceiving a doctor by promising him to the postgraduate seat.
Deputy Dean Dr.
Rakesh Verma who was suspended and his aide Lavkumar Gupta was taken to Bharuch through a transfer warrant because the duo was submitted in Arthur Road Jail in Mumbai in a similar case.
Police said that the duo and the other five named Vishal Radariya, Ritam Sharma, Mukesh Mishra, Aditya and Sagar had disabled Aadam Patel, whose Putr Mohsin was seeking in a postgraduate course through the National Engigibility Entry Test (NEET).
In August last year, Patel received a call from Sharma who asked if Mohsin was interested in the entrance ticket in Sion Hospital for MD Course.
When the family showed interest, they were called to Mumbai and held a meeting with Verma.
Verma promises to enter Mohsin and ask them to meet Gupta.
The family was asked to pay Rs 60 lakh to secure a chair, but because they could not pay the agreement was resolved for Rs 43 lakh.
In the next few days, they managed to pay Rs 43 lakh in different amounts.
However, Mohsin never entered and the money was also not returned.
Patel submitted a conspiracy of fraud and criminal in March.
“The gang targets a candidate who has secured a lower ranking in NEET.
They secured the entrance ticket for the candidate when the seat fell emptiness after counseling,” said the Sunda Vikas Police Supervisory Assistant.
He added that one more victim from Banaskantha who had paid Rs 60 Lakh also advanced against the gang.
Mumbai police have broken the medical chair racket in December last year where Verma and his aides were used to deceive medical graduates under the pretext of helping them to take advantage of being post-graduated at the Zion Medical College.
