Bhubaneswar: Death due to an accident on the road increased by 12% in all states from January to October in 2021 as against 10 months in accordance with 2020.
Data Latest, shared by the branch of the State Crime with the Department of Transportation, at all 4,074 people died on the road.
Accident during January-October last year.
The victim’s figure has reached 3,637 for the first 10 months of 2020.Wary from alarming trends, the Secretary of State and Transportation Secretary Bishupada Setyhi on Tuesday wrote to all district collectors, SPS, communisarial police, and regional transportation officers (RTOS) to take steps – Step to reduce the death of accidents in the state.
“A road and death accident is a concern.
Last week, several tragic accidents occurred in the Balalasore District, Sonepur and Mayurbhanj, resulting in the deaths of many people, including infants.
Accident deaths increased by 12% during January-October 2021 as against the same period By 2020, “statistical wrote, said Sethi except Puri, Nayagarh, Coraput, Deogarh, Kendrapada, Sonepur and other districts witnessed an increase in deaths during the period.
“You are asked to intensify law enforcement of traffic rules with special emphasis on excessive speed detection and illegal roadside parking.
Collectors must review law enforcement and RTOS regularly and send monthly reports to this department,” Sethi’s letter said.
There was a steady increase in the number of deaths from 2014 (3,931 deaths) up to 2020 (4,738 deaths), increased by around 21% during the period.
The Supreme Court Committee on road safety has been directed to take steps for a reduction of death by 10% every year from 2015 and so on.
Although violations of the helmet law generated around 41% of deaths, the state government was worthless to overcome this problem.
The committee has also expressed displeasure of law enforcement related to DLS suspension in 2020 and 2021.
Excessive improving contributes to 69% of accidents, but actions against violators have been lacking, last year’s committee, the country of transportation, the State Transportation Authority (STA) signed Mou with Delhi-based Save Life Foundation (SLF), an NGO working in the field of road safety, to reduce accident death.
SLF has been assigned to identify stretches tend to accidents, find out the causes of accidents and recommend improvement measures to make zero death corridors in the state.
