Debt-ridden farmer ends life in Halvad

Rajkot: A debt-ridden farmer stopped life by leaping in the Narmada canal on Tuesday night at Ajitgarh village of Halvad taluka at Morbi district. He also left a suicide note saying that he had been taking the radical measure due to severe monetary crunch.The dead was identified as Ramesh Loriya (42), a resident of Ajitgarh village. “I do not have money to get pesticides to finish my life. Hey lord! Care for my kids”, Loriya’s suicide note read,” authorities said. Loriya is survived by his wife, two daughters and a son.His figure was discovered in around 8 am at the Narmada canal on Wednesday. Main probe indicates that Loriya was incurring losses in farming to the past few decades. His debts have already been mounting and this season he couldn’t have cash to purchase seeds before their sowing season.
