Lucknow: Children who suffer from metabolic bone diseases such as bone rashitis and cancer, cerebral palsy or foot clubs will get special care under one roof at the medical university of King George (KgMu).
The orthopedic pediatric department has started a multi-disciplinary opd service specifically for children.
An opd is specifically for patients with metabolic bone disease – the term umbrella for bone disease caused by imbalances of vitamins and minerals-starting on Wednesday.
Three more OPDs will begin this week.
On the first day of the OPD metabolic bone syndrome, 12 patients were given a consultation.
For three other OPDs, a multidisciplinary team consisting of a general drug, pediatric, radiotherapist, among others, will be deployed once a week on rotation.
They will provide care to children with bone tumors and other musculoskeletal oncological problems, cerebral palsy (default disturbance movement, muscle tone or posture), club legs (birth defects where the legs are twisted out of shape or position) and the other one roof , This OPD will be an additional OPD run by the Pediatric Orthopedic Department.
“We must make special care in these cases and patient family members will be advised.
They will get all the same care, diagnostic and surgical facilities on the same campus,” said Prof.
