Kochi: Defense and paramilitary personnel traveling to leave or return to the task in Lakshadweep will then get the first preference in allocating emergency quota tickets on passenger ships run by administrative islands.
In Lakshadweep, the passenger ship is the most extensive and affordable means of transportation in addition to regular flight services.
A command issued by administration on Saturday said the decision would alleviate the difficulties faced by defense and paramilitary personnel, especially those from the islands, in securing ship tickets on time, during their visit.
“While recognizing unmatched services and sacrifice of defense and paramilitary personnel for the big nation, Lakshadweep administration has made this decision as a step forward to recognize their contributions and facilitate them for their smooth movements,” he said.
“This sign of respect will run away in motivating the island population to join defense / paramilitary forces and serve our big country with the main dedication and sincerity,” the Order said.
The government also appointed two Nodal officers for effective implementation of order in letters and spirits.
