New Delhi: The Ministry of Power Union on Monday said that the deficit demand for peak power in the country was almost eliminated in the period 2020-21.
Providing statistics, the ministry said the deficit reached 0.4 percent in 2020-21 compared to 16.6 percent in 2007-08 and 10.6 percent in 2011-12.
In the current year (2021-22) until October, the demand for peak power has been (-) 1.2 percent and a marginal surge caused by an annual post-monsoon pressure at the power output.
It also tends to be normalized at the end of the year, the ministry said in a statement.
According to the statement, India has a large power deficit of 16.6 percent in 2007-08 and in 2011-12, it was 10.6 percent.
Through multi-branch, comprehensive and aggressive interventions from the government, this deficit is close to destroyed, consistently over the past three years – 0.4 percent in 2020-21, 0.7 percent in 2019-20 and 0.8 percent in 2018- 19, said statement.
This transformation from the acute power deficit country with a demand situation is fulfilled, except for a very marginal shortage of less than 1 percent, it has been made possible by the scheme carried by the government today to overcome unhappy situations, recorded.
The scheme included Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Yojana (Ddugjy), which was brought in July 2015 to encourage infrastructure in the rural sector and integrated electricity development scheme (IPD), which was introduced in November 2014, to overcome the inequality of power infrastructure in urban areas.
The statement said that the Pradhan Scheme Mantri Sahhaj Bijli Harhar Yojana (Saubhagya) was launched in September 2017 having a vision to take electricity to each household (willing).
Has been able to supply electrical connections to 2.8 to thin out the household in the dark, he added.
In almost the past seven years, the augmentation of the power capacity installed in this country is 1,55,377 MW.
