Bhubaneswar: Indira Gandhi National Open University (Ignou) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Skills and Entrepreneurship Development to link vocational education and training to graduation degrees for training 95 skills development centers in the country.
Mou Signed on Tuesday will help trainees of the Industrial Training Institute, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra (PMKK) and Jan Shikshan Sansthan (JSS) in this country get the opportunity to register for higher education.
The training participants usually did not get the opportunity to register their names for higher education while taking vocational education and training.
Source said youth who took skills training courses in institutions such as itis did not have easy access to a higher degree and often abandoned from mainstream education.
This leads to limited opportunities to sharpen their skills and exceptions in terms of opportunities at work, they say graduation degrees.
According to the plan, the university will provide facilities at 45 itis, 24 JSS and 26 PMKK in Odisha.
Ignou and the ministry will jointly develop and operationalize the implementation plan for this initiative.
The ministry will facilitate the opening of the Ignoo Registration Center, the inspection center and work center for existing students registered under the university, considering the mandate provided based on the 2020 National Education Policy (NEP).
