Alwar: In a rare case, the Supreme Court has upheld the court order which directs the Indian train to pay Rs 35,000 to passengers for the delay in the train, resulting in him to lose the flight to connect it and forced to rent a taxi to achieve his goal.
Sanjay Shukla, a resident of Alwar, had booked a ticket for himself and his family for Jammu in Jammu-Tawi Express on June 11, 2016.
But the train reached a four-hour goal late.
So, he missed his flight to Srinagar.
He had to rent a taxi and he lost advance reservations to take a boat in Dalai Dal.
He had to travel 12 hours by taxi to reach Srinagar, which would be a 20-minute flight, because of a train error.
Sanjay approached the District Consumer Court in Alwar who was looking for compensation for financial losses and mental torture.
The consumer forum asked the train to pay for the RS 35,000, which included taxi rates of RS 15,000, bookings in advance by boat by Rs 10,000, RS 5,000 as family fees and RS 5,000 for mental torture.
The train challenges orders in the high court and court, but both courts uphold orders.
It was then challenged at the Supreme Court.
But there was also a train to face a shame after the peak court enforced the command of the Consumer Court.
