New Delhi: The Northwest Delhi police have arrested 12 people, including nine women, who allegedly deceived people with the pretext of providing work in various airlines.
The defendant posed as an official of the Human Resources Department from the airline and conducted fake job interviews by telephone.
The victims were then made to spend money on a different pretext after that the defendant turned off their cellphone and went underground.
According to DCP Usha Rangnani, the defendant cheated more than 200 people in the past few months.
The police have received complaints from someone who accused that the call center had cheated him Rs 12,250 with the pretext of providing work in an airline.
During the investigation, it was revealed that the fake call center ran in a house in Shastri Nagar with the pretext of providing work in various airlines.
Then, the attack was carried out and 12 defendants involved in carrying out the alleged call center were arrested.
Three people who were arrested were the main conspirators who had employed nine women as tele-callers, DCP added.
They collected the victims of Rs 700 to RS 1,200 as registration fees, Rs 2,500 to RS 5,000 for account opening and Rs 4,500 to Rs 6,000 for uniforms, police said.
Further efforts are being carried out to track accounts where cheated money is being transferred.
Rs 2,31,000 in cash, 15 cellphones, two debit cards, etc., restored from their ownership, added the police.
The defendant has been identified as Neeraj Kumar (35), Amir (28), Sonu (33), Sandhya (27) Neeleta Rawat (28), Mushkaan, Vimless (27), Harpreet Kaur (21), Nisha (21), Jaya ( 21), Deepika (21) and Moni (20).
