New Delhi: Seventeen people suffered injured burns after the LPG cylinder caught fire and exploded at the cottage in Northwest Delhi on Sunday morning, officials said.
The incident took place in the Lal Bagh area of ​​Azadpur and the fire department said the call about the flames was received around 10am, they said.
However, no deaths have been reported so far, officials said.
“We hurried into three tenders of fire to the fits of the calls received and found that the LPG explosion occurred at 25 meters of the cottage because we were told that at first that five people suffered injuries,” Atul Garg, Delhi, Delhi fire fighting.
According to the police, five houses were damaged by the explosion, after 17 people suffered injured burns.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northwest) Usha Rangnani said, “PCR calls around 10.08 in the morning were received at the Adarsh ​​Nagar police station related to the fire in a house near Lalbagh Mosque, Azadpur because of the cylinder explosion where five people were injured.” However, when he reached the place, it was found that 17 people suffered burns and shifted to the hospital.
Among them, 16 people suffered minor injuries and were taken to BJRM, while one person was treated at RML hospital, he said.
In the preliminary investigation, it was found that one Pappu Kumar turned the gas cylinder in his house on the third floor of a building and in the process, the LPG cylinder exploded and the roof and the wall of his house collapsed.
Because of its impact, four other houses on the second floor also collapsed, the officer said.
The fire is watered and the cooling process is taking place, he added.
Legal actions are being taken, police said, adding that further investigation was ongoing.
