New Delhi: Without Rain in the last 10 days, two districts in the city – south and east – now under the category of rainfall “shortcomings”, while the Northeast is in the category of “big deficiencies”.
The three districts continued to remain in the “advantages” category because good rainfall was recorded last month.
The city saw a light drizzle in several parts of Delhi on Thursday and India Department of Meteorology (IMD) had predicted light rain until Friday.
The IMD data shows that, at 68%, the northeastern district has been the worst under the “Large Lack” category.
The district has recorded 154mm rainfall between June 1 and August 19 against normal 484.6mm.
In the same period, the southern and eastern districts each recorded a deficit of 23% and 39%.
North is the only district categorized under “great advantages” at 72%, while West is in the “normal” category.
Overall, Delhi is currently in the “normal” category because it has received 431mm rainfall, so far, against 405mm.
An official meeting said the districts in the “deficit” or “big deficit” category, might improve because the rain is likely to be continued from Friday.
The IMD has issued a “orange” warning for Saturday with a moderate shower estimate.
On Thursday, Aya Nagar recorded rainfall “trail” from 8am to 17:30 pusa received 1mm rainfall during the same period.
The IMD has expected light to moderate rain on Friday and moderate rain on Saturday.
“Because of the cyclone disorders in the southwest of Uttar Pradesh and Northwest Madhya Pradesh, the rain is currently most likely in Delhi on Saturday,” said Kuldeep Srivastava, scientists, IMD and Head, regional weather forecasting centers.
