Delhi: 24 liquor stores are sealed for violating civil norms

New Delhi: Three City Corporate Delhi – North, East and South – has sealed 24 liquor stores until December 31 and 113 of the companies presented a notification for violating the City Law or Master 2021 plan, the authorities suggested.
These stores were established under the new Delhi Government Excise Policy, which came into force on November 17 last year, they said.
Under the new excise policy, the Delhi government has privatized the sale of retail liquor, allocating 849 surges throughout the city through a tender process.
It has been out of retail liquor sales.
The policy states that liquor stores will have at least 500 square feet with a walk-in facility.
BJP, which regulates three civil bodies in the city, has opposed new policies.
The Head of the Delhi Unit of the Party Adesh Gupta has warned that if the liquor store is regulated under the new excise policy, it will be sealed if they are not in accordance with the city law.
Previously in December 2021, Adesh Delhi Head BJP Adesh Gupta in a statement said that the three city companies have been directed that if the liquor stores under the new excise policy are in an area that is not appropriate or emerging in a violation of the Master Plan 2021, then it must be sealed with direct effect.
“Cumulative 24 liquor stores, which regulate violations of norms in various regions in the city, sealed until December 31 by each civil society.
Three corporations also issued a notice of 113 other companies,” said Senior Civil PTI official on Sunday.
Major Corporate Municipal Delhi Selatan Mukesh Suryan said that every liquor store violates the city law or the master plan will not be spared.
“We have so far (until December 31) sent a notification to 22 people and sealed six stores.” Major Body Civic Delhi Timur Shyam Sunder Agarwal said there were complaints from various parts of the community about liquor stores founded near residential areas and in areas that were not suitable.
“The East Corporation has intensified actions against joints like that.
Edmc has, so far, sealed eight liquor stores and sent notifications to 70 others.
All shops opened in an inappropriate area will face hard action,” he said.
North Delhi Municipal Corporation Mayor Sardar King Iqbal Singh said they had received complaints about the illegal liquor stores opened.
“Following the complaint, we began sending notifications and sealing shops illegally.
Until now, 21 (liquor) shop has been sent notice and 10 others closed,” he said.
Previously in December, the Chair of Delhi BJP, in a statement, said all corporations of three cities have been directed that if the liquor store under the new excise policy is in an area that is not appropriate or emerges with a clear violation of the Master 2021 plan, then they must sealed with direct effects.
Gupta on January 3 held a massive protest against new excise policies and the opening of “illegal” shops.
