New Delhi: Three thieves were arrested after a short exchange of fires with police in the Kashmere North Delhi gate area on Wednesday, officials said.
Thieves have been identified as Anwar (38), Manirul (24) and Rafiq (24), all residents of the Jahangirpuri Delhi region and the same gang members.
Anwar was injured in a shoot, they said.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Atul Kumar Thakur said, “Our team led by Amit Kumar from KM Pol police followed a group of armed thieves traveling by vehicle.
Around 12:35 a.m., our team followed the outer ring they were on the road near Hanuman Nagar , The Kashmere gate.
“The accusation of trying to escape while Anwar took out a state-made gun and opened fire on the police team.
The police team replied and he suffered a bullet injury at his leg, he said.
Anwar has been found involved in 70 cases, Saifuddin in 23 and Rafiq in 30, police said.
Some cash, cellphones, pistols and other things recovered from the defendant, they said.
