Delhi: 3 was held to pose as a MCD official to squeeze money

New Delhi: Three men were arrested for allegedly disguised as MCD officers and extorted money from shop owners in the Taman Mansarovar Delhi Timur area, police said on Sundays.
The defendant was identified as the Omparkash (55), a resident of Angled, Vikas Panchal, a resident of Ram Nagar Extension, Mandoli Road, and Sandeep Garg, said Shahdara residents, they said.
The three have previously worked at MCD and BBS based on contracts, police said.
On Saturday, Satung Sharma sailor, a resident of Shahdara, said three people were imitating when city corporate officers came to his shop in East Colony Nathu, Mandoli Road, and asked him to show a trading license, a senior police officer said.
After that, they threatened him to act against the store and asked him to pay Rs 3,000 for settlement.
The complainant pays the amount, he said.
Sharma was suspicious and asked for their identity card, following several arguments that were heated between them and the three began to run.
Sharma with the help of other shop owners captured the Omparkash and handed it to the police, the officer said.
During the interrogation, Omparkash revealed that he, together with his colleague Kumar and Garg, used to imitate MCD officials and examine trade and other licenses from shop owners and extort money from them, he said.
Then, the raid was carried out and, for example, his two colleagues were arrested, police said.
