New Delhi: Capital added six more deaths related to Dengue, all underage, according to a report released by South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) on Monday.
Tol this year has now increased to 23, the highest since 2017 when the number of official fatality is 10.
The six children including a 15-year-old boy from Mehrauli who died on October 28; A seven-year-old boy from Prem Nagar who died on October 29; An eight-month boy from Kirari who died on November 3; Eight-year-old girl from Dakshinpuri who died on November 5; A 13-year-old boy from the extension of Om Vihar and a 10-year-old child from Tri Nagar who died on November 21.
They all gave up on hospital disease.
According to the procedure, the corporate death audit committee studied the fatality allegedly related to dengue fever and submitted a report that confirmed whether the cause of his death was a disease transmitted by vectors.
The overall case of Delhi has now reached 9,545, where 6,344 was reported by SDMC, EDMC and North DMC.
The remaining cases were reported by the New Delhi City Council, Delhi Cantonment and Railways.
In some relief, the number of dengue infections in the past week has dropped, from 154 in the previous week to 131.
In 60 cases, the North DMC contributed mostly, followed by SDMC with 33 and EDMC with 23.
The rest reported by NDMC, Delhi Cantonment and Railways.
Officials at the Ministry of Health Public said while some cases can still be reported in the capital, they decrease.
“We see a decrease in the number of cases of dengue fever and mosquito breeding also down.
The Delhi High Court has recently asked us to form a task force to prevent the plague and we will immediately do it,” said an EDMC official.
In October this year, the Delhi government, under the epidemic law, made it mandatory for all health facilities in the capital to report cases of dengue fever to the administration.
The city in 2015 watched a large outbreak of dengue fever, with the number of cases crossing 10,600 in October itself.
Reported 4,431 cases the following year; 4,726 in 2017; 2,798 in 2018, 2,036 in 2019 and 1.072 by 2020, according to a combined SDMC report.
While the 10 deaths of dengue fever were reported respectively in 2016 and 2017, four people died in 2018 and two deaths were recorded in 2019.
