Delhi: 7 was held as a police robber gang

New Delhi: Seven people were arrested for allegedly robbing people after offering them raised cars from the Punjabi Bagh West Delhi area, police said on Monday.
Abhishek Kumar (32), Arun Sharma (25), Nikhil (25), Prem Gupta (22), Anshul (22), Hemant (27) and Arun (22), all Azadpur residents, involved in around 25 robbery and cuts at Delhi’s various parts, they said.
According to the police, the motive behind the crime is to make money quickly to maintain their luxurious lifestyle and impress girlfriends.
The police said Kumar had bought a car with a loan but could not pay monthly installments.
So, he and his colleagues decided to form a gang and make money in illegal way.
The arrest was carried out on Saturday by the police personnel team under the direction of Sho Punjabi Bagh Hemant Kumar and the overall supervision of ACP Punjabi Bagh R B.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Urvija Goel said the team was deployed for special check-drives near the Ring Road in Punjabi Bagh and stopped the car that was suspicious bearing the Pradesh Uttar number plate.
During checking, it was found that the car was involved in several robbery.
The team captured three of the charges of the place and based on their disclosure, the others were also arrested, he said.
“During the interrogation, the defendant acknowledged their involvement in about 25 robbery cases with the pretext of giving the lifts to travelers late at night or early in the morning.
They used to put a plate of fake numbers in their car before committing a crime,” he said.
The police said several cellphones, branded bags, laptops and motorbikes among other robbers were confiscated.
