Delhi: AAP Govt Okays RS 104CR for a high pole national flag

New Delhi: The Delhi government has provided sanctions at 104.4 crore rs for the installation of a national flag of 35 meters high at 500 locations in Delhi.
While five of these high-mass flags have been installed in Delhi, the rest is expected to be established when capital celebrates the republic ahead.
500 national pole national flag was announced by the Delhi government as part of the ‘Dishbhakti budget’ on March 12 this year.
Installation of flags is part of the 75-year celebration of Indian Independence and Rs 45 Crore set aside in the budget for these initiatives.
During his budget speech, deputy chief minister and finance minister Manish Sisodia said that a high pole flag – like a monumental flag at Connaught Place – will be installed in a way that at least one of them is seen by each Delhiite on every two kilometers.
The circular issued on October 25 stated that a number of Rs 104.34 Crore had been given “administrative approval and expenditure sanctions” by the Delhi Ministry of Finance’s expenditure committee, based on proposals submitted by the engineer of the Department of Public Works.
While giving approval, the committee has said that the PWD must observe all ‘codal formalities’, including general financial rules, Manual CPWD works, financial department instructions, etc.
The Committee has instructed that the project is approved in accordance with the approved scope of working with the approved fees in the specified period and no escalation of costs to be considered in the future.
It is also directed clearly that there is no transfer of funds permitted and deviations from the terms and conditions of the work or funds will be responsible for strict actions.
While the project was announced earlier this year, work was affected because of the exponential growth of the Covid-19 case during the second wave.
However, five out of a total of 500 flags in East Kidwai Nagar, East Vinod Nagar, Rani Bagh, Kalkaji and Dwarka were installed in time for the celebration of independence day.
