New Delhi: Special cell Delhi police have arrested four men, including Afghan citizens, and recovered a record of 354 kilograms of heroin more than Rs 2,500 Crore in the international market from them, officials said on Saturday.
The defendant has been identified as Rizwan Kashmir, a ghitori citizen here and the native of Anantnag in Jammu and Kashmir, Gurpreet Singh and Gurjot Singh, both Jalandhar residents in Punjab and Hazrat Ali, the native of Kandahar in Afghanistan, they said.
Recently came to police notice that Kashmir was involved in peddling drugs in Delhi and other countries such as Punjab, Madhya Pradesh and Haryana.
“On Monday, the police received information that Kashmir would give Oly’s Owned Goods in the South Delhi Ghitorni area.
The trap was placed and the defendant was arrested when he would send a package of one kilogram of heroin,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (cellular) Pramod Singh Kushwah said.
Kashmiri revealed that he worked under the Afghan National named Isha Khan who recently left India and went to Afghanistan.
Khan directed him to contact Gurpreet and Gurjot who currently operates a drug racket from Faridabad in Haryana, DCP said.
Based on the disclosure of Kashmir, Gurpreet and Gurjot were arrested, he said.
Police recover 166 kg and 115 kg of heroin from two cars parked in the community based on Duo information.
Then, 70 kg of heroin also recovered from rented accommodation both defendants, police said.
Gurpreet and Gurjot revealed that they operated the drug racket in the man’s instructions named Navpreet Singh, currently based in Portugal, police said.
Gurpreet meets Navpreet in the prison of Punjab Kapurthala when they are in Judicial custody in separate cases, DCP said.
Based on Kashmiri’s disclosure, Ali was also arrested from Gurgaon and two kg of Heroin recovered from his ownership.
About 100 kg of different chemicals used in preparation of heroin also recover, said Kushwah.
Describing the operation, the police said the opium grew in various parts of Afghanistan hidden in different legitimate export – stone powder, gypsum powder, packed seeds and in packaging materials such as gunny bags, cartons etc.
Then it was transported in a container to the chabahar port in Iran from which the consignment was sent to Jawaharlal Nehru Port in Mumbai, they said.
After that, the material was separated from valid exports and sent to emergency factories based on Shiv Puri in Madhya Pradesh for further extraction and processing to get the final product, police said.
Locals with the help of Afghanistan experts process heroin and chemicals needed for this process purchased from various stores located in MP and Delhi, police said.
After preparation, heroin then sent to Punjab, Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan J-K and various other parts of the country using a different supply chain.
The defendant who was arrested was part of various components of this network, police said.
In 2019, special cells have confiscated 330 kg of such heroin in multi-state operations, they added.
