New Delhi: All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Monday partially opened the newly built mother and child block for the public.
It has 400 beds and 12 operating cinemas, among other facilities dedicated solely for the care of mothers and children.
“At present, we only started OPD services for gynecological and pediatric units.
Installation of equipment is in process.
After everything is finished, acceptance and operation will also begin,” said a senior official.
Mother and child block AIIMS is conceptualized for a decade ago to reduce the main OPD.
In 2014, the foundation was placed.
However, because of various factors, such as lack of funds and covid pandemic, the operationalization of the project is delayed, officials said.
