Delhi air pollution: agricultural fire share near 20%

New Delhi: Delhi air quality, which is in the ‘poor’ category on Thursday, is likely to deteriorate from Friday when it is predicted to touch the ‘very poor’ range.
The contribution of the stump burn to PM2.5 Delhi rose from 16% on Wednesday to 19% on Thursday, the highest so far this season.
The overall air quality index (AQI) is 268 on Thursday, according to the Central Pollution Control Agency (CPCB).
Although the overall air quality remains in the ‘poor’ category, eight monitoring stations – Shadipur, NSIT Dwarka, Nehru Nagar, Bawana, Pusa, Mundka, Anand Vihar and Taman Ihbas-Dilshad – in the ‘very poor’ category on Thursday night.
Experts say stump burning and calm wind conditions at night will affect air quality.
Air quality and air forecasting systems and research (Safar), the forecasting body under the Ministry of Earth, said, “Aqi Delhi is in a bad category.
The effective fire count of the stumps of the propeller in the northwestern region of Delhi is 502 and its part At PM2.5 is around 19% because wind transport winds are in the northwest.
As expected by Safar, AQI is now expected to reduce the ‘very poor’ category on Friday and the possibility of remains until Saturday.
“Analysis carried out by the Energy Council , The environment and water (CEE) revealed that more than 7,300 and 1,796 their respective farm fires were reported in Punjab and Haryana, between September 1 and October 27.
The agricultural fire part of Delhi air pollution remains 10 -20% so far, said Ceep.
LS Kurinji, Associate Program, CEE, said Delhi’s air quality had begun to deteriorate with the ‘poor’ category since Wednesday.
“With the estimated northwest wind of Delhi-NCR and if more agricultural fires occur in the next two days, smoke from agricultural land coupled with emissions from local sources, decreasing temperature and reducing wind speeds will worsen air quality in Delhi and its surroundings , “Kurinji said.
