Delhi air pollution: school, college to stay close up to further orders

New Delhi: The Delhi government has decided to close the school and other educational institutions, and prohibit the entry of vehicles from outside, except for important services, until further orders amid increasing pollution levels in the national capital, Gopal Rai Minister of Environment announced on Wednesday.
It has also decided to extend work from home to Delhi government employees and prohibition on construction and demolition activities until Sunday.
“As many as 1,000 CNG buses will be employed to strengthen the public transportation system.
The process will begin on Thursday,” Rai said at a press conference after a high-level meeting with the relevant department official.
Towards the Supreme Court’s hearing on the issue of air pollution, the air quality management commission Tuesday night directed that schools, universities and educational institutions in the national capital region will remain closed up to further orders, allowing only online educational modes.

It is also said that only five of the 11 thermal power plants located within 300 km of Radius Delhi will continue to operate until November 30.
