New Delhi: A two-year-old boy was kidnapped and killed by a pair in Taman Rajouri Delhi Barat and the body was thrown away in a sewer in the Punjabi Bagh area, police said on Saturday.
The Duo defendant was arrested after a long hunt for 36 hours.
Family competition caused the murder, police said.
According to DCP Urvija Goel, the defendant has been identified as Rajesh (26) and Yamuna (24).
This case cracked after a major operation carried out by Sho Anil Sharma and a team of almost 150 people, including civilians and flood department workers.
Five boats and 18 divers were pressed into the service to track the victim’s body.
The victim’s parents are beggars and found around the King’s garden circle.
“The case is registered because of the alertness of the local police and their observations.
The family belongs to the part that is deprived of getting their livelihood through beggars,” said a senior officer.
The incident was reported in early Friday morning, when the local Beat officer saw the mother’s mother crying on the path after she could not find her son.
Sho Anil Sharma immediately submitted a case and formed ten teams suspecting the involvement of organized beggar gang behind the loss of the boy.
As an investigation began, a team led by ACP Sanjay Sharma analyzed recording from a CCTV camera located in a five-kilometer-long stretch.
Yamuna, relatives of the victims, looks carrying children in one of them.
After the defendant was identified, the police first arrested Yamuna from the Tuxlaqabad area based on a tip-off, said an official who added that he then led the police to her husband Rajesh, who was arrested after Chasing Hourlong.
During the interrogation, it was approaching that the couple accused of being worried that they would be overthrown from the circle so the child grew up because of his grandmother, who was the head of the family, chose the boy over the couple’s daughter.
They are afraid of being absent and losing their livelihoods and thus planning to kill the child.
After picking him up in sleep, they summarize the child and drown it in the water until he died.
They then threw away in the drain section that was too much near Punjabi Bagh and went underground.
Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana appreciated the team’s efforts.
