New Delhi: Delhi Police arrested a famous thief who targeted the residence of government officials in Lutyens’ Delhi and steal jewelry, cash, glassware and other valuables.
The defendant was identified as Karan (28), a resident of Bijnore at Uttar Pradesh.
The police said he had committed theft back to four houses between Saturday and Monday last week, including two on Sundays.
Nine cases of theft reported from Lutyens’ were resolved with Karan’s arrest.
The police have restored stolen goods, including foreign currencies.
Karan, the police claimed, working as a laborer in the previous government housing complex and realized that it was not difficult to solve the key and hinges of government accommodation, which was mostly in dilapidated conditions.
The police began tracking the suspect after several theft incidents were reported in areas such as Ravinder Nagar and Jalan Pandara.
“The modus operandi is to target a locked house.
CCTV recordings from the analysis, which revealed that thieves hit alone and the same person had committed theft in several houses in the same area,” said DCP Deepak Yadav.
The description of Burglar was studied and the special staff team, the New Delhi district was formed and was deployed to be copyrighted.
Through technical supervision, it was found that the defendant entered the target house from the adjacent home, which was locked.
Trap laid and the suspect was arrested.
The search for his bag shows he carries a break-in equipment, including an iron cutter.
The defendant was interrogated where he broke down and claimed to be on his crime.
Karan also led the police staff to Kotla Mubarakpur where he had a rental room to store stolen items.
The defendant was arrested in a similar case last year and sent to prison.
He was released eight months ago and went to Dehradun to find a job but could not find it, because of the Pandemic Covid-19.
After that, he returned to Delhi.
