New Delhi: The size of the public transport bus fleet at 6,900 has become the biggest so far in Delhi, the Chairman of the Minister of Arvind Kejriwal said on Friday after marking 100 low and air-conditioned buses in Rajghat Depot here.
The city transportation department also made an effort to have 300 e-buses on the road in April, said Transport Minister Kailash Gahlot on that occasion.
“With the induction of 100 buses now, the size of the public transport bus fleet has grown to 6,900 which is the highest so far.
Previously, there were around 6,000 buses at the Commonwealth Games (in 2010),” Kejriwal said.
The government held more buses including e-bus, he said.
“It takes 2-3 years for the new bus to come because of the tender process and other formalities, it cannot occur overnight.
When our government is formed, there are many shortcomings of buses because there are no new buses purchased for years.
