New Delhi: The case of extortion involving Conman Sukesh Chandrasekhar is getting bigger with the sources of the police who confirmed on Tuesday that the number extracted by Tihar prison inmates from the victims was Rs 190-200 Crore.
This is the highest amount squeezed not only from prison, but by criminals in Delhi to date.
The day after TII reported sensational extortion was carried out from prisons – the initial number was estimated at Rs 50 Crore – this case was transferred to the wing of economic violations (EOW), given the complex and humongous financial angles involved in it.
The enforcement directorate was also studied to start a parallel investigation.
Victims belong to Top Business Conglomerates.
EOW is expected to seek help from professional forensic financial analysts in this matter.
Two Associates Arrested Chandrasekhar, Deepak Ramdani and Pradeep Ramdani, deal with finance and live in the colony of new friends and city models.
Money calculation machines are also confiscated from them, said source.
At least two dozen cases are delayed against Chandrasekhar throughout the country.
The probe has revealed that Chandrasekhar has contacted the victim’s family who informed them about a recognized criminal investigation which will begin or are ongoing against them, and promised to help as a substitute for money.
At first, he claimed to have contacts in high places, which was the usual modus operandi, but then spoke to the victims who posed as a senior government official.
For this, the police have called the IPC part of the imitation of it.
Chandrasekhar then claimed the costs incurred in the form of bribery and forced the victim to pay.
His colleagues raised money on his name in an undisclosed location.
After the victims realized that they had been cheated, a FIR was submitted based on their complaints in the last week of July.
The cellphone used by Chandrasekhar in prison was confiscated and sent for forensic analysis.
The Conman was shifted from Tihar to Rohini prison in an effort to curb his criminal activity.
Previously, Chandrasekhar was arrested for allegedly taking money from T V Dhinakan to bribe the election commission official to get two AIADMK leaf symbols for the Sasicala Faction.
At that time, he tried to attack the RS 50-Crore agreement by claiming to have contacts in the Election Commission.
The crime branch has confiscated RS 1.3 Cash Crore from its hotel room in Delhi during the attack in 2017.
Before that, he was arrested with his girlfriend, actress of the fame “Madras Cafe” Leena Maria Paul, for claiming to be a film manufacturer.
The Conman was also accused of using the names of top CBI officials to extort money from former MP TDP Rayapati Sambasiva Rao.
Chandrasekhar has posed as a senior CBI officer and also as a senior official of the Ministry of Home and demands Rs 100 Crore from former MPs to add to it.
