Delhi: Damaged Fake Call Center, 24 is held to deceive people

New Delhi: Delhi Police have broken down fake call centers and arrested 24 people, including 15 women, from the Rohini region, officials said on Saturday.
The defendant shouted victims, especially from the northeastern state and Odisha, with the pretext of offering them cellphones at low prices through lottery schemes, they said.
Police said Ramkumar (34), Shyam Kumar (35) and Govind (22), all the residents of Sultanpuri here, together have a call center.
On Friday, the police received information about the fake call center operating in Rohini Sector-7 which allegedly deceived people with the pretext of offering them cellphones at low prices through the Lottery scheme, said a senior police officer.
“The police stormed the call center and arrested the defendant.
The investigation revealed that most of the victims belonged to the northeastern state,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rohini) Pranav Tayal.
During interrogation, it was revealed that the defendant used to collect the number of cellphones that lived in other states of the Internet, DCP said.
They randomly make calls to people throughout the country and induce them with favorable offers.
They told people that their number has been chosen for the offer where they will get a cellphone worth 17,000 on payment only Rs 4,500, police said.
To get customer trust, they use the post office as a logistics service provider.
However, instead of sending cellphones, they will send cheap wallets, belts, soap etc.
In that package, police said.
The police also stormed the defendant’s warehouse located in Rohini Sector-20 and restored packages ready to be sent.
Three fake call central owners were also nabbed from there, police said.
Police recover three computers, 52 cellphones, 384 packages and other items.
