New Delhi: The Delhi government on Friday declared Chhath Puja as a public holiday.
This year Chhath Puja, most of which are popular among people from Bihar and East Uttar Pradesh, will be celebrated on November 10.
“Chhath Puja is an important festival for the people of Delhi.
Therefore, the Delhi government has decided to declare November 10, 2021, as a public holiday because of the Puja Chhath,” the command signed by the Deputy CM Sisodia Manish.
The four-day festival began on November 8 and on November 10 night and on the morning of November 11, it would offer prayers to God the Sun.
Over the years the popularity of Chhath Puja has grown in the capital.
Delhi Disaster Management Authority has banned the celebration of the Festival in Riverbanks Yamuna but permitted Festival has been permitted in Ghats far from the river bank.
The district administration has identified several Ghats where the festival will be celebrated.
The government provides all basic services and infrastructure such as light, tents, primary medical facilities, toilets in Ghats.
