New Delhi: National capital has reported 2,569 dengue square cases in a week, the South Delhi Municipal corporation said in the weekly report released on Monday.
The total number of cases is now at 5,277, which is the highest number of cases recorded from Delhi in the last five years.
Of the 2,569 reported cases, 1,772 cases came from three companies and the rest of the new Delhi City Council, Delhi Cantonment and Railways.
There are also 470 cases, namely from outside Delhi and not part of the total number of cases.
The North corporation has witnessed 808 cases under his jurisdiction, followed by the South Corporation (781).
East corporation recorded 183 cases within a week.
The number of deaths confirmed because dengue fever was nine until last week.
Under the epidemic law, the Delhi government in October made it mandatory for all health facilities in the city to report cases to administration, therefore, old cases were also reported.
According to health experts, there are three main factors behind the increase in the number of dengue cases.

In a meeting held with the Secretary of the State Health, Health Officials from all local bodies discussed Spurt in the number of Dengue cases, a problem of repetition and old cases reported by a private hospital, said an official attending the meeting.
However, officials hope the number of cases can fall in the next two weeks.
