New Delhi: Amit Gupta, a 39-year-old doctor with a Hospital managed by the Delhi Government, who is at the forefront against a pandemic, died due to a multi-organ failure related to Covid.
He has been against deadly infections since April.
Gupta was on the task of Covid-19 at Satyawadi Hospital King Harish Chandra before he tested positive on April 22, the family bride said.
He added that, because there was no support for oxygenation of extracorporeal membranes (ECMO) available in the capital, he must be flown to Secunderabad when doctors suggest lung transplants.
“He died of a multi-organ failure.
We can’t save him,” said one of his family members to Ti.
The family has spent all their savings in his care.
They even have to borrow money from friends, relatives and others.
Recently, the Delhi government, with the direction of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), the replacement of almost 83 lakh Rs which occurred in Dr.
Gupta treatment.
The statement released on Thursday said Dr.
Gupta initially denied financial assistance after being infected with Covid-19.
The Commission, based on complaints, has issued a notification to the Ministry of Health and the Delhi Government who requested to extend direct financial assistance and other support to the sick doctors.
It also asked both the government to frame policies for all medical staff and contract paramedics deployed by the central or state government.
The Delhi government told that the Director of Health Services General had been assigned to frame policies to provide adequate medical care to doctors and paramedic staff rented based on contracts, which might include health insurance for them, said NHRC
