New Delhi: Planning to rejuvenate Delhi’s middle back on the same lane as New York Park has seen several changes in recent months, by objection of the Ministry of Forestry on commercial activities, including cycling, in the 423-hectare forest area.
While the previous plan has included facilities such as cycles, paths, and even small bridges, this has been removed and only an animal safari which will now be allowed at the Central Ridge.
There will be a path, of course, but they will be natural, not man-made.
To compensate, the circuit will be made to allow people to leave the forest area to a side by side such as Talkatora Garden or Buddha Jayanti Park.
Professor CR Babu, Head, Environmental Management Center for degradation (Cemde), who led the rejuvenation project, including the replacement of invasive vylayati trees with original species, said the ‘sanctity’ of the ridge would continue and recreational activities were permitted only in the park falling in ‘circuits ‘Ridge.
“We want to revive the center of the Ridge and it will always be a priority,” said Babu.
“All landscapes will evolve to consist of the original tree species that should originate from the ridge, not Kikar vylayati.
The last one will be replaced systematically.
The work of revival will take place in seven phases, with all rejuvenation areas divided into seven zones.
We will start with Work in the first zone at Sardar Patel Marg, opposite the ITC Maurya Hotel.
“Recent meetings with the Department of Forest and wildlife considered some suggestions that had been made, and some amendments were made according to the plan, revealing Babu.
“This new plan has been mostly approved, but there are some sticky points.
We will finish it immediately and the rejuvenation plan can then be started,” he said.
A forest official confirmed the development, revealed that suggestions had been taken from other field experts.
“The presentation of the plan was made and some changes were made about certain aspects.
In the first phase, the work will begin in the 100 hectare area,” the official said.
Babu also clarified there would be no activity in the section of the Savaris Ridge for the safari wildlife.
“There are many fauna in an excessive area, and more wildlife will return once the area is revived,” the professor explained.
“People will be allowed to use natural lanes, but no other disorders are permitted in the main forest.
Already, small parks and parks have been made outside the forest and this is a park bench, gazebo and butterflies can be developed.
Forest areas.
Will have a natural waterbodies.
Depression will be revived to hold water.
The park can also have an artificial pool if needed.
