New Delhi: Starting Monday, driving skills test for permanent SIM will be carried out on seven days a week.
The decision was taken by the Delhi government transportation department to clean backlog caused by the suspension of the test earlier this month.
From January 6, all driving skills tests and student license tests were suspended by the Department considering the increasing number of Covid-19 cases, although online ‘Faceless Services’ continued to function.
This Friday, the suspension was revoked, with limitations was appointed on other activities in the city with a decrease in the case of Covid-19 and the level of participation.
“Applicants can now take an appointment of driving skills tests for Monday, which is the day when the test is not done otherwise,” an official said.
“Driving skills tests are suspended for some time and those who have promises cannot appear for tests and no fresh promises are permitted.
As a result, there is a backlog, which we hope will be clear in some time with an additional Monday slot now open,” he said.
The official said that many people prefer to take tests over the weekend, on their holidays from work, and which is why the department continued to drive operational test tracks over the weekend, while their transportation officials left on Monday.
“We will make some rearrangement so that the test can be done throughout the day a week.
This will continue for now and we hope to clean backlogs in the next few weeks,” he said.
While all activities relating to driving skills tests and student license tests, including appointments of fresh online meetings, suspended, promises that are rescheduled, and SMS sent to applicants.
The Delhi government revoke orders who suspended driving skills test on Friday with the number of Covid-19 dipping cases.
Meanwhile, to make smaller commercial vehicle fitness tests at Burari facilities is easier and more efficient, the department has floated tenders to prepare 10 inspection lines and automatic certifications.
A fitness test of 300 small vehicles such as autorickshaw and taxis is done manually at the facilities every day on average.
