Delhi: Duped AIIMS doctor to get back Rs 3 lakh

NEW DELHI: Timely action of Delhi Police’s Cyber Cell has managed to save Rs 3.2 lakh of an AIIMS doctor, who had been duped of Rs 4.9 lakh online.
Police said the amount would be returned to him within seven working days.
They are tracking also the remaining sum and efforts to identify the accused are also under way.
According to police, on June 23, Chetan Patel reported on the cyber crime helpline number 155260 that he had received a call regarding KYC verification of his mobile number.
He said the unknown caller made online fraudulent transactions of Rs.4.9 lakh from his State Bank of India account, police said.
Anyesh Roy, DCP (Cyber Cell) said, “We registered a ticket through our Citizen Financial Cyber Fraud Reporting System and the same was escalated to SBI.
The bank informed that the amount of Rs 4.65 lakh has been transferred into Flipkart and Rs 25,000 was transferred to alleged account of another bank from where it has been withdrawn.” The bank then escalated the fraud ticket to Flipkart.
“The Flipkart team was successful in withholding Rs 3.15 lakh.
Merchandise in respect of the rest amount of Rs1.5 lakh had been delivered to the accused before the receipt of the fraud ticket,” the cop said.
