Vadodara: Sleuth Cybercrime caught a man for deceiving the Barodian of Rs 12 Lakh by posing as an insurance company executive.
Dinesh Lohera was arrested from his residence in Delhi after the police tracked him using his telephone number and bank account.
The police said that Lohera was used to make calls to Praveen Parmar, residents of Karelibaugh and offer loans about different insurance policies.
The police now ensure whether there are other people involved with Lohera in fraud.
Parmar has registered cheating complaints worth around Rs 12 lakh with police cybercrime on December 30, 2021.
Parmar told the police that in 2019 he had received several calls from a woman who offered an insurance policy.
He refused to take a policy but he immediately got a call from a man who identified himself as Rahul Sharma and offered him a loan on the insurance policy.
The defendant asked Parmar to take RS 39,000 policy to take advantage of Rs 12 Lakh loans.
Parmar took a policy but he did not get a loan after Sharma told him that the amount could be returned.
The defendant then asked Parmar again to take another policy worth RS 64,000 which was last paid in June 2020.
After a few days, Sharma asked Parmar to take the loan policy to get a loan.
Between March 2021 to November 2021, Parmar paid another 10.20 lakh Rs in 24 different installments.
But he never got the number of loans or each of the following policies he approached the police.
