New Delhi: A large number of people on Wednesday appeared Chhath Puja in Yamuna Ghats located near Ito and Sonia Vihar opposed DDMA’s ban.
The crowd of worshipers was led in their worship by BJP leaders, including MPS Manoj Tiwari and Parvesh Verma, even when they were opposed in their approach to Ghats by City Administration.
In a clear reference to BJP, Chairman of the Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal, who participated in the Chhat Puja near Kidwai Nagar and King Bazar, said the parties should not do politics at the festival.
Last month, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) had allowed Puja Chhath to the appointed Ghats, but forbade him at the Yamuna Bank.
Delhi MP West Parvesh Verma participated in the chhath celebration in an artificial pool in Yamuna Ghat near Ito.

The cabinet of the Minister of Satyendar Jain, Kailash Gahlot and Gopal Rai, along with MLA Raghav Chadha, visited various designated Ghats.
“There are many obstacles in the Chhath celebration, but we overcome all obstacles with the blessings of Chhathi Maiyya,” Kejriwal said.
Apart from the ban, the worshipers began to seize the banks of the river to perform rituals the previous day.
They complained that they were stopped by the police and civil defense personnel.
The Chhatt three-day long festival was mainly celebrated by Purvanchalis belonging to Bihar, East Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand settled in Delhi.
During the festival, worshipers offer ‘Arghya’ to Allah the Sun and also fast as part of a ritual.
A police officer Delhi said adequate police arrangements had been made considering the festival in “appointed spots”.
Police personnel have been deployed to manage the crowd, he said, adding the spread has been made to remember all possible terrorist activities.
When asked about security at Yamuna Ghats, the officer said, “The personnel had been deployed by the river so that no one was allowed to go to Ghats.

Paramilitary personnel and police have been asked to urge people to obey DDMA’s orders and supervise the law and order situation, the official said.
The Delhi government has prepared Chhath Ghats around 800 places throughout the city in the park and other places.
In his attack on the Delhi government, BJP also raised pollution problems in Yamuna and foam floating on the surface during the festival.
Delhi President BJP Adesh Gupta said the Kejriawal government banned Chhath at Yamuna Bank to cover up his failure to clean the river despite the seven-year government.
AAP and BJP have pampered themselves in the war words above Chhat for several days.
With purvanchalis forming a large bank in Delhi, all major political players including BJP, AAP and Congress seeks to join in the celebration.
AAP leaders have accused the MCD ruled by the BJP of not allowing the construction of Chhath Ghats in various parts of the city.
Delhi Anil Kumar congress president also visited worshipers in many places in the Patparigaj area in East Delhi.
With the number they have increased for years in the city, Purvanchalis is considered an important bank by all major political parties.
