New Delhi: Minister of Transport Kailash Gahlot led the first meeting of the Apex monitoring committee founded under ‘Delhi Maintenance and Parking Rules Management, 2019’, with a special focus on ordering 5% room in all new construction for electric vehicles (eV).
The government is considering the provisions for ordering the EV parking space in existing buildings too.
Maintenance and Management of Delhi Parking Regulations, which are notified in September 2019, makes the civil body responsible for regulating parking space needed in areas under their jurisdiction, including the preparation and implementation of the parking area plan, which requires approval of the Apex monitoring committee.
At the meeting on Friday, the parking plan area was prepared based on the Guidelines for the Department of Transportation and by consulting with RWA, market associations, etc., discussed.
Gahlot directs the southern Delhi Municipal Corporation to lead to develop all plans after parking capacity assessment, length of stretching and vehicle type, and accelerates the procurement of NOC from Delhi enforcement and police institutions.
“Parking area plans are not just about parking vehicles, but improving quality of life and making life easier for the public.
Vendors, non-motorized transportation, parks and recreational space find important places in this plan,” Gahlot said.
“I also urge residents to park responsibly and try to switch to EV.
The most important thing to use more public transportation, which will discuss many of these problems from the grassroots level,” he said in a statement.
The possibility of using geospatial data to map the coordinates of EV users and the area influence of the plot with the coordinates of the owner to develop a private filling cluster was also discussed at the meeting.
