Delhi Govt Okays plans to cover all naked power cables

New Delhi: Delhi Cabinet approved the policy to change 2,264 km from a naked 11kv wire network in the city to isolated, especially to prevent the risk of being attached to naked electrical cables.
On Saturday, Chairman of Minister Arvind Kejriwal instructed the department concerned to implement the policy.
The Delhi government also tried to put down the underground power cord.
After the cabinet agreed to the policy to convert 11KV naked conductors to isolated, CM said that the power cord was not insulated depending on the streets that damaged Delhi’s display and pose a threat to life and property.
The policy, which is presented to the cabinet by the Department of Strength, unanimously is approved by consideration of the safety of life and the property of Delhies.
“This is the duty of the state government to provide safety and facilities to the people of Delhi at each level supply infrastructure, “CM said.
Kejriwal added that the Delhi government worked on putting an underground electrical cable.
“This will make them really safe and prevent accidents,” he said.
In August 2018, the Department of Strength was empowered to shift high tense (11KV, 33KV and 66KV) and low power transmission lines (400V) underground.
In March 2020, the Cabinet had discussed the ‘Jagmagati Delhi’ project and directed the power distribution company to submit a proposal to protect the entire naked transmission cable network.
The 11KV network is maintained by three distribution companies, or discounts, namely TPDDL, BRPL and ByPL.
From the 2,264 km network, TPDDL will isolate 1,270 km, 29km and BRPL, 965 km.
The Ministry of Finance provides the Department of Strength of Rs 25 Crore in the financial year 2021-22 for conversion under the Delhi Jaggati program.
The area where the naked conductor 11 KV will be converted to isolated networks has been identified by the power department.
These include regular and illegal colonies, urbanization villages, resettlement colonies and colonies set by 20 points in rural areas or in rural areas, such as the expanded Lal Dora area.
Unauthorized colonies and registration numbers and other property details from each village of income or regions where the naked conductor track 11 KV is also included in the training based on new policies.
The power department will now issue a sanction letter at discounts to carry out the proposed work in their respective jurisdictions.
The company will get permission from the department concerned, if necessary, for the conversion project.
Delhi Transco Limited will submit a verification inspection report with photographs before and after completing the project and stating whether the work has been carried out according to the norm, the terms and conditions specified.
The money spent on work will be released to the power distribution company on conversion settlement.
