New Delhi: To honor the Olympic Silver Medalist Ravi Dahiya, the Delhi government has decided to name the government school he learned as Ravi Dahiya Bal Vidyalaya, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia announced on Tuesday.
He also said that the government would soon build a special advantage for sports along with Delhi Sports University.
Dahiya is a government school student at Adarsh Nagar.
Semodia contains Olympian Ravi Dahiya and said that through his hard work, a Delhi government school student has now become a youth icon for the nation.
Under the scheme of its missing advantage, the Delhi government has helped Ravi Dahiya with training, coaches and other sports equipment.
The scheme functions on three levels.
At the first level, a sportsman until the age of 14 was given a maximum financial assistance of RS 2 Lakh.
At the second level, a sportsman of up to 17 years was given a maximum financial assistance of RS 3 Lakh.
The player over the age of 17 was given aid until Rs 16 Lakh.
“The big portrait of Ravi Dahiya will also be installed in this school so that small children are inspired and motivated to have an Olympic dream and bring glory to our great nation.
The Delhi government is committed to promoting sports in Delhi at each level.
The government will soon establish excellence schools Especially for sports together with the University of Sports Delhi.
The idea is to recognize young talents in sports and continue to support them throughout their sports trips.
Acceptance to this school will begin with the next academic session, “Sisodia said.
Dahiya said, “The Delhi government has begun to support me during the training days even before I was chosen for the Olympics.
With a constant government support, I hope I will be able to get gold next time.”
