The Delhi government will recommend the reopening of schools in the national capital at the DDMA meeting on January 27 because it has now been needed to prevent further damage to the social and emotional welfare of children, Deputy Minister of Manish Sisodia said on Wednesday.
By asserting that online education has never been able to replace offline education, Sisodia said the government has closed the school when it is not safe for children, but excessive caution now harms students.
Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has called a meeting on Thursday to accelerate to facilitate the sidewalk in the National Capital of the Covid-19 situation.
The problem of reopening the school is also on the agenda.
Safe! You have managed to throw your votelogin to see results “In the past two years, the lives of school children have been locked in their rooms.
Instead of going to school and spending time in the playground, all their activities now only take place on mobile.
“Pandemic-induced school closure not only affects their studies but also their mental health.
During Covid, our priority is the safety of children.
But because various studies now find that Covid is not so dangerous for children, it is important to reopen the school, As now is the time for the exam and related preparation, “said Sisodia.
Sisodia, who holds an education portfolio, said that schools reopened in several countries and even many Indian countries.
“On this basis, the Delhi Government will recommend the reopening of schools in the DDMA meeting scheduled for January 27,” he said.
“While the Covid case and the level of pepositives are in the decline in Delhi, it will not be suitable for maintaining children from school.
With children back to school, not only the school witnessed a breakthrough but will also indicate a trace of life,” he said.
Previously today, the delegation of parents led by Chandrakant Lahariya, an epidemiologist and public policy specialist, and the research center of President Yamini Aiyar, met Sisodia and filed a memorandum signed by more than 1,600 parents demanded by schools reopened.
“Why are we the last among major countries to decide this? I agree with their demands.
The generation of children will be left behind if we do not open our school now,” added Sisodia.
Lahariya shows that according to AIIMS, ICMR, Indian academy of pediatrics, Niti Aayog, who and several other organizations, risks associated with covid are very few among children.
“The closure of the school has several advantages but the negative impact on children’s learning and mental-emotional well-being is very high.
Therefore, the reopening of the school is the need for crying at the hour,” he said.
After briefly opened, the schools in Delhi were closed on December 28 last year considering the third wave of Covid-19 driven by the Omicron variant.
Aiyar said that the big learning gap was seen among children because they moved away from old school.
“Because of the pandemic, it just widens over the past two years and keeping children further than the school will mean that all generations will move forward with the learning gap.
He further said that some researchers have found that children even forget about the basic mathematics and Fundamental language skills.
To bridge the learning gap, it is important for schools to reopen.
Schools focus on the overall development of children, which is not possible at home and through online education, “he said.
