Delhi Govt zero at 150 pollution hotspots

New Delhi: The Department of Environment has identified 150 hotspots based on complaints received in the Green Delhi application in the past year.
Capital has 13 hotspots, which are declared based on pollution levels.
The Minister of Environment Gopal Rai said, “13 hotspots are marked for high level pollution.
However, after analyzing the Green Delhi application data for about a year, we have marked 150 hotspots now.
We will control, manage and monitor the problem with the department concerned.” An official said the new hotspot was areas that had received the maximum complaint number on the application.
The pollution source is related to road dust, illegal disposal of waste and construction and disassembly (C & D) waste, dust pollution due to C & D activities, burning of garbage, biomass, parks or plastic waste and air pollution from sources other than the industry.
Track the level of pollution in your city “Most hotspots have two problems, road dust, and littering illegally on the roadside and empty plots,” he added.
Most hotspots are located in six districts – West, South, Central, Northwest, Shahdara and New Delhi.
In the winter of 2018, the central pollution control board and Delhi pollution control committee have identified 13 pollution hotspots based on the average level of PM2.5 and PM10 recorded throughout the year.
This includes Rohini, Dwarka, Okhla Phase-II, Punjabi Bagh, Anand Vihar, Vivek Vihar, Wazirpur, Jahangirpuri, RK Puram, Bawana, Munapuri, Narela and Mayapuri.
They are defined as a place with an annual average level of higher than the average city value.
“However, new hotspots are fully based on complaints and feedback received on applications and their pollution levels have not been considered,” the official said.
Official Department of Other Environment said, “Because all complaints have geocoordinat embedded in it, they are and analyzed using Google Earth for inference.
Repeated complaints and chronic locations are selected based on their spatial frequency (more than 5 complaints from one location) and temporal frequency (more From 8-10 complaints in a day).
“” The new area has been identified so that the agents concerned can take substantial action towards pollution mitigation, “the official added.
