Delhi Govt’s anti-pollution drive to start on October 18

New Delhi: Minister of Environment Delhi Gopal Rai on Thursday said 2,500 civil defense volunteers would be deployed under the campaign ‘Red Light On, City Government vehicles starting October 18 for effective implementation to curb vehicle pollution.
This campaign will be carried out clearly in the 100 traffic junction spread in 13 police districts in the city, he said, adding that the drill mocking the campaign will be carried out on Sundays.
Rai said that the decision was taken after a meeting together with Delhi police, civil defense officials, East Environment and SDMS officials on Thursday.
“In the meeting it was decided that this campaign to examine pollution would be carried out at 100 crossings in the 13 district districts -Masing will be involved, “Rai said.
Main intersection where 20 volunteers will be deployed including Ito, Bhagwanda crossed on Marg, Tolstoy Crossing in Barakhamba Road, Chandgi Ram Akhara Crossing, near Moti Bagh Metro, Peeragarhi Chowk, Prithviraj Road Crossing, Madhuban Metro, Pitampura Metro Crossing and Karkari Mor.
He said the civil defense volunteers would work as a “paraavaran marshals” and also distributed pamphlets that carry information about the chairman of the main minister of three appeal to the public.
To help fight pollution in Delhi, Kejriwal on Tuesday appeal to people to actively participate in the campaign “Red Light On, Vehicle Off” and also avoid using their cars at least for a week of a week.
He also asked Delhies to report cases of violations of pollution norms on the Green Delhi application.
The minister further said that the main purpose of this campaign was to reduce vehicle pollution.
He said the campaign would continue for a month until November 18.
Civil defense volunteers will be deployed in two shifts at 8am to 2pm and 2pm.
He said that the Delhi government would do anything to maintain a low level of pollution in the city.
“In accordance with PCRA (Oil Conservation Research Association) Reporting the transfer of machines at red lights can reduce pollution around 13-20 percent and can save around RS 2,500 Crore every year.
