New Delhi: The Delhi High Court has allowed a woman to stop her for 30 weeks of pregnancy because the fetus has a rare chromosome disorder.
If he gave birth, the child would have such a substantial abnormality, he said.
“If the woman is forced to continue her pregnancy, she will become a constant fear of a high-birth opportunity to death.
Even if the baby is born alive, the mother will bring a severe pain to know the child can die in a few months,” said the High Court.
Judge Rekha Palli said there was a certain risk to the applicant in undergoing termination of his pregnancy at this stage, but when it was considered to remember medical opinions, which clearly showed that the fetus suffered from rare chromosome disorders, strong reasons for him to request permission to end pregnancy is not difficult to understand.
The court was told by the woman, who was present at the hearing, that she had explained the risks involved in the procedure.
“I, thus, does not hesitate to hold that this is a fit case where the applicant must be given permission to undergo a medical termination of his chosen medical facility.
However, the same thing will be done at risk and its own consequences,” the court said.
According to the application, the fetus does not only suffer from Edward’s syndrome (Trisomi 18) but also from bilateral bilateral nasal bones and non-group pyelectricis.
