New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Friday directed the police to shift the LGBTQ community pair, wanted to get married and faced threats from their families, to a safe house founded by the Delhi government and gave them adequate security.
Justice Mukta Gupta directs the Phase-i Mayur Vihar police box to ensure that the couple is taken from the NGO office, where they are currently located, and nesting in the safe house ‘arranged at Kingsway Kingsway complex.
The High Court also asked police officers to ensure that the pair would be given adequate security by police at home safely.
It also issued a notification to family members of the partner and registered this issue to hear further in August 2.
The APEX court in 2018 gave a command to protect the couple who chose interface or weddings between caste after the Shakti Vahini NGO submitted a request for “honorings”.
