Delhi: Immediately, driving tests on automatic tracks at night

New Delhi: Will be immediately to provide a test for permanent SIM at night, with the Delhi Department of Transportation the government began preparation to carry out the second exam.
The number of driving test slots has been reduced on the automatic driving test track to ensure social distance considering the Covid-19 pandemic.
This has caused a longer waiting period to get an appointment for driving tests, which can be two months or more in a busy zonal office.
To reduce the waiting period and ensure social distance, the department increases automatic driving test tracks and additional lighting settings in this facility will be provided to carry out driving tests in the second shift.
As part of the initiative, a high pole light pole will be installed on the automatic test path at Sarai Kale Khan, Viswas Nagar, Vihar, Shakur Basti, Burari, Loni Road, Raja Park, Rohini Sector-22, Dwarka Sector-22 and new facilities has appeared at Jharoda Kalan.
The department will get a 350 watt LED spotlight, which will provide powerful lighting to allow night tests.
The project is expected to cost around Rs 96.7 lakh and will be completed within 45 days after the work is given.
High pole lights will be 12.5 meters high, with a 12-sided polygon cross section and 3 mm steel plate thickness.
A high pole will have a diameter of 360 mm at the base and 150 mm above and strong enough to withstand heavy wind speeds.
“To carry out an automatic test, the camera on a high pole needs to capture the driving test, regardless of the sensor on the ground.
Both are needed for computerized analysis and then find if the applicant has cleared the test or not,” said an official.
“Very strong lights are needed in the centers to ensure that the camera can capture images as efficiently as they do during the day,” he said.
At present, the driving test starts between 8 and 8.30 in the morning on the test track and lasts up to 1.30 to 14:00, until all applicants for that day have given their tests.
“There will be a separate shift in the near future to meet more requests while ensuring no crowding in the test center.
Initially, the test time will be increased to 8PM and if possible, even up to 10 nights in the next phase,” the official said.
