Delhi immediately gets 2 multi-level bus parking facilities

New Delhi: The National Capital City will soon get multi-level bus parking at Delhi Transport Corporation and Varan Vihar Bus Depot, Minister of Transportation Kailash Gahlot announced on Thursday.
“This multi-level bus parking facility will be a world-class public transportation infrastructure, sophisticated to be given to the Delhi people,” Gahlot said in a statement.
“This facility, built on a Mandiri model, is undoubtedly put Delhi in the world’s top city list in public transportation and transportation infrastructure,” he added.
The project, which aims to develop these two depots in the main location to world-class depots with up to three times the current parking capacity and retail space, will be executed by the National Buildings Construction Corporation Limited (NBCC).
The construction of the first multi-level bus depot will begin by the end of this year and will be completed in stages in 2024, the government said.
Depots on Nagar Day and Vasant Vihar each can accommodate 100 and 230 buses each.
The Delhi government said in a statement that this depot would be able to accommodate 330 and 400 buses each more than four and seven floor depots after rebuilding.
This depot will also explain underground parking more than 2.6 lakh sqft, accommodating more than 690 cars and retail rooms.
DTC has signed the MoU with NBCC in October 2020, according to the NBCC which will act as a project management consultant for the development of the main land parcel in various locations in Delhi, for multi-level bus parking depots, rebuilding DTC housing colonies and many more commercial facilities.
DTC housing colonies in Shadipur and Nagar Day are also being developed into a housing unit along with retail and commercial facilities.
According to the statement, this depot was designed with a vibration isolation system using steel helical springs, after the impact analysis of noise and vibration and 45 ° angle for maximum parking efficiency.
Other features such as washing holes, electric charging stations, will also be included on these sites, the government said.
