New Delhi: Several students Jamia Millia Islamia gathered at the Varsity gate for Vigil Candlelight to salute Pulitzer’s photojurnalia prize winner, Denmark Siddiqui, who died in Afghanistan on Friday.
Some students put a candle next to the image of Siddiqui, a former student at Jamia’s AJK MCRC.
Earlier on that day, Chancellor’s Deputy Najma Akhtar visited the Siddiqui family, including his father, Akhtar Siddiqui, a former Dean at Jamium.
“Danish death is a loss not only for his family and the brotherhood of Jamia but all countries,” he said.
VC also said that the university would hold a meeting on campus on Tuesday and held the Siddiqui work exhibition immediately.
Jamia alumni members are also part of Vigil on Saturday.
In a statement they say, “Many of us have received their guidance and support both at universities, where he often returns to interaction, and in the field.” Watch Delhi: MediaPereka salutes the Danish photographer Siddiqui
