NEW DELHI: The licences of all 12 chemist stores are suspended from the Delhi administration’s drugs control section for selling Covid-management medications without a physician’s prescription, officials said on Wednesday.
Last week, the section had suspended the licences of all 25 chemist stores for selling medications .
Show-cause finds were issued to 12 chemist stores as well as the statutes to suspend their licences has been finished Wednesday, an official said.
The action has been taken in the aftermath of an increasing amount of mucormycosis or black predator instances from the federal capital.
Experts have blamed the indiscriminate usage of steroids among Covid sufferers to the spike in dark feces instances.
The medication control department was sending decoy clients to chemist stores and activity has been initiated against these chemists who operate over medication with no prescription,” said Atul Kumar Nasa, the mind of the Delhi Drugs Control office.
“Twelve chemist stores were discovered selling steroidal drugs with no prescription.
Selling steroidal medication without a physician’s prescription is in contravention of the Medicines and Cosmetic Act,” he told PTI.
The 12 stores were discovered selling steroids like budesonide and dexamethasone with no prescription of a registered physician, according to officers.
The stores might need to remain closed until the moment their licences remain frozen.
The section will be cracking the whip over the selling of medication like Azithromycin, Doxycycline, Ivermectin and specific painkillers which are used at the treatment of this coronavirus.
Azithromycin is a Program H medication under the Drugs and Cosmetic Act and Cannot be sold across the counter without prescription.
During the initial wave of the outbreak, the section had initiated actions against individuals found selling Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) with no prescription.
Following the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) issued an advisory recommending the usage of HCQ to the prophylaxis of this Covid disease for its high-risk inhabitants, there had been a hurry to secure the drug as well as the division had initiated actions against individuals found selling it without a legitimate prescription.
Even the Delhi Disaster Management Authority had directed at the authorised pharmacies and retailers promoting COVID-19 medications to show the available inventory and the expense of the medication prominently in their own shops.
The medications are Ivermectin pills, Doxycyclin pills and capsules, pills, Methyl Prednisolone pills and shots, Dexamethasone pills and shots, Budesonide inhalers, Respules Favipiravir pills, Apixaban pills and Enoxaparin Sodium or Clexane, it’d stated.
According to Nasa, the majority of the chemists are complying with the purchase.
The team of this section carries out daily tests on if the chemist stores are tasked with the order,” he explained.
