New Delhi: Twelve more people tested positive for the new Covid variant Omicron in Delhi on Friday, taking total to 22, and officials say most of them are “fully vaccinated” and “asymptomatic”.
Ten of 22 patients had been repatriated, said Health Minister Delhi Satyendar Jain.
A senior doctor at Lok Nayak Hospital, where special facilities have been set to isolate and treat the cases of obsicrons suspected, say most patients are fully vaccinated and without symptoms.
“Some of them have mild symptoms such as lightweight fever, bodyache and sore throat,” he said.
The doctor also said that two omicron patients were “contacts from those who had tested positive Covid on arrival at the airport.” Medical Director of LNJP Suresh Kumar said 40 people are currently being treated at special facilities at Lok Nayak Hospital which is intended to isolate and treat the alleged Omicron case.
The minister said on Thursday that many international travelers turned off positive Covid on arrival at Indira Gandhi International Airport.
On Tuesday, he said that the omicron variant of Coronavirus had not spread in the community so far and the situation was under control.

Under new norms, the RT-PCR test is mandatory for passengers who come from “risky” countries and they are allowed to leave the airport only after the results come.
Also, 2% of passengers arriving on flights from other countries are being randomly tested.
